Overview

The Rasoi, nestled in Carrollton, TX, offers a flavorful dive into authentic Indian cuisine with a strong emphasis on Hyderabadi biryani and classic curry dishes. This takeout-focused eatery caters to Indian food lovers seeking a convenient yet rich culinary experience that highlights traditional recipes crafted with care.

The main highlight here is undoubtedly their biryani selection. From the aromatic Hyderabad Chicken Dum Biryani to the tender Boneless Chicken Biryani, each dish boasts a fragrant blend of spices and tender meat, encapsulating the essence of Indian slow-cooked rice dishes. Diners often praise the balance of flavors, though some suggest the masalas could be more pronounced to elevate the depth of the dishes further. The Rasoi doesn’t shy away from offering authentic specials like the Mughlai Chicken Biryani and seasonal mutton varieties, deepening its appeal to those craving genuine regional tastes.

Beyond biryanis, their entrees shine as well, particularly the Butter Chicken and Paneer Butter Masala, both staples that showcase well-executed curry craftsmanship. The butter sauces are reputedly rich and velvety, with perfectly tender chicken and springy paneer cubes, offering a taste experience described by some patrons as vivid and memorable. The absence of accompanying rice in certain entrees might initially surprise some, but the quality of the dish itself more than compensates for it.

The Rasoi is primarily a takeout spot with a minimalistic interior—an empty, no-frills space that emphasizes food over ambience. While this means no dine-in option, it appeals to customers who prioritize robust tastes and authenticity over dining aesthetics. The limited physical setting makes it ideal for busy families, professionals, and anyone looking to enjoy hearty Indian meals at home.

Customer experiences tend to vary, reflecting both the nuances of consistency in takeout services and the natural subjectivity of spice preferences. Some reviews highlight minor hiccups like missing items or delivered orders taking longer, but also note the staff’s friendly communication and willingness to accommodate. Overall, many returning diners commend the food quality and flavor depth, indicating a growing local appreciation.

The Rasoi also excels with its desserts and beverages, such as the indulgent Double Ka Meetha and refreshing Badam Milk, which round out the meal with traditional Indian sweet notes. These complement the savory courses beautifully, adding to the holistic culinary journey.

In sum, The Rasoi stands out as a promising Indian restaurant for those seeking authentic Hyderabadi flavors and classic curries in Carrollton. Its takeout model suits individuals and families looking for convenience without sacrificing the complexity and richness of a well-prepared Indian meal. With room to grow in consistency and spice nuance, The Rasoi offers a genuine, flavorful experience that many locals are eager to revisit.

I'd give a overall 2.7/5. I was disappointed to see my order was missing items. Food is ok. Quality . chicken 65 was ok (2.5/5) | Biryani was a little extra on the flavor (3/5) ~ they MISSED the shawarma with my order. Update: ordered again. Good food 4/5

The food from this new little place is SPECTACULAR. The interior is bare when you arrive for pickup, and there are no tables so you can't eat inside, but definitely don't let that deter you. Everything we ordered (butter chicken, paneer butter masala, & chicken biryani) was awesome! I was a little disappointed that the butter masala dishes didn't come with rice, but it's literally the best of this sauce variation I have had in my life, so I'm fine to overlook it. Not to mention the chicken was tender and the paneer was perfectly springy. Everything is spiced beautifully. Truly a party in your mouth experience! 1000% would recommend!

Tried the takeout from Rasoi tonight after several disappointing meals at our local favorite - Sigree. Sigree has been dethroned. The butter chicken was over the top awesome. We normally order extra entrees of butter chicken at other places as we expect to get a small portion and need to feed two teenagers - so I ordered 3 of the entree. There was so much delicious chicken in the container that my family was satiated at just over one container of food - so we have two more of the delicious entrees for leftovers ;) The Samosas were equally tasty, with the kids scarfing down 4 of them (we had two orders of them) and asking if we could order more (I did not want to drive back to pick any more up but I agree they were excellent- not too thick and the filling was exquisitely spiced). The chicken 65 was also excellent though I would have liked a little more spice (heat) in it. I highly recommend this place - it’s new and awesome.

Take out only, just an empty room. Although they didn't have chicken schwarma ready, I received a call asking if I would wait 40 minutes. Took a little longer but was worth the wait. All four of us thought they were delicious. I will definitely be back.

I was initially a bit hesitant to try rasoi by the name but its hyderbad style , finally made up my mind and decided to go for it. I ordered a Buy One Get One Free Chicken Biryani deal, and the staff kindly let me mix and match. I chose one Chicken Dum Biryani and one Boneless Chicken Biryani, along with a dessert—Double Ka Meetha. Chicken Dum Biryani – (4/5) This had a nice flavor and good aroma. I just felt it could use a little more of that rich dum masala to really elevate the taste. Boneless Chicken Biryani – (3.7/5) The chicken was tender, but I felt the masala and overall flavor a bit less. Still decent, just needs a little improvement in the spice blend, flavor. Double Ka Meetha – (5/5) This dessert was the star of the meal! Slightly on the sweeter side, but absolutely delicious. I loved every bite. Definitely glad I tried it—looking forward to exploring more Indian dishes!

Saw their opening BOGO deal on Instagram and decided to try it today. The Chicken Dum Biryani looked amazing and tasted even better — full of flavor and just the right spice. Even my wife, who's not usually into Indian spices, loved it. Great first impression!

Absolutely loved this place! If you're a fan of badam milk, this spot is a must-try - rich flavorful, and perfectly chilled. The starters were equally impressive, especially veg Manchuria, which was crisp and well-seasoned. The variety of fresh fruit juices like sithaphal shake (custard apple)and chikoo juice was refreshing and a perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic flavors and a satisfying snack break!
